Youth Reference Group 2010
SOUTH SYDNEY YOUTH SERVICES IS NOW LAUNCHING IT'S YOUTH REFERENCE GROUP!
South Sydney Youth Services will select 12 young people aged 12-25 to become representatives of its Youth Reference Group before the end of March. The group will come together fortnightly to discuss important issues affecting young people while participating in a range of activities. The aim is to get young people to help develop programs and youth projects to help other young people in the community.
Director Shane Brown of South Sydney Youth Services (SSYS) says “we will start by organise a camp giving members an opportunity to get to know each other, they will then have the chance to work together to produce their own film or music clip, make a documentary about issues affecting today’s youth, get creative about climate change, explore their culture and its impacts on the community, through art, dance, music, back to country journeys as well as act on their own ideas.”
Lana a member last year’s group says “The Youth Reference Group is a fantastic way to get actively involved in our community and raise awareness for youth related issues; it’s a great opportunity to meet young people and build peer support which will help us with future goals“.
South Sydney Youth Services’ (SSYS) provide a range of services for young people, women and families who live in the South Sydney Area.
